Winter is here….but this was Autumn

I’ve finally almost caught up on my photo editing from the last few months!  I’ve done an engagement shoot and a wedding, and taken a lot of personal photos also.  We’ve had a terrible start to winter with severe flooding throughout our state.  So a lot of rain has happened, which means indoor time to sit and edit.  Here is our trip to Hollybank this Autumn, as always a beautiful place to visit.

Family Holiday Part 5 – The end of the Journey

We packed up the car and began our journey home….my husband failed to tell me till we were a few hours into the journey that he thought the ute was making a strange noise.  I had wanted to visit Brighton Beach on the way through to the ferry. It was about 1.30-2 and we hadn’t had lunch yet so we made a very quick stop to have a look at the beach boxes, take a few quick photos and jump back in the ute in search of food.

We found lunch and also received a text message from the Spirit of Tasmania that our boat trip would be delayed and we wouldn’t be able to board until 8.30pm (earlier in the week a freak storm hit Melbourne and broke the bridge for the cars to get on and off the boat) .  We had quite a few hours to fill in.

We decided to visit Ikea.  I have wanted to for so long and it seemed a good place to go for a few hours, and to be able to get dinner before we left was also helpful.  On our way driving to Ikea, my husband said he wasn’t sure if the car was going to make it :0

We kept going anyway and we wandered around Ikea and tried not to think about the possibility of being stranded in Melbourne and missing the boat.

The whole drive from Ikea to Port Melbourne was nerve wracking, and but the time we got there and were further delayed (e.g. waiting hours in line to board the ship) I had a giant migraine.  It was past 11.30pm before the kids and I boarded.  We went straight to bed.  The next day the ute barely started, we drove off the platform and had a friend with a trailer waiting to take us home!!

So as usual life didn’t quite go to plan, thankfully the ute was an easy fix and it was quickly back on the road again and I am now wishing we were back on our holiday as the rain has finally arrived!
