Evandale Village Fair and Penny Farthing Championships 2013

Every year Evandale host a Penny Farthing Championship and village fair.  It is such a fun day out, we don’t attend every year so as we hadn’t been for a while, we walked up the road to the event.  It really is a lot of fun watching the races, and people come from all over Australia and the world to enter.  My favourite part is the costume parade, and looking at all the lovely old cars.  Come along next year!

Glass Bottom Boat – Bicheno, Tasmania

During this years summer break we spent some time camping at Scamander.  We made a day trip to Bicheno with some family and friends.  We took a ride on the Glass Bottom Boat.  I was a bit unsure how all the kids (and myself) would go on the boat (I get motion sickness easily) but it was fine.

Around the outside edge of the boat are chairs that go all the way around and then an edge around the glass bottom.

Our boat driver (captain?) was very kind, and informative about the sea life.

We saw lots of fish, sting rays and star fish, but much to the boys despair, no sharks.

My youngest boy coped really well and only got sick of it in the last ten minutes or so, think he was getting cold as it was quite windy, so if you go, wear a jacket!

We also travelled around the rocks and saw some birds that look like penguins….

The trip was approximately about 40 minutes and the cost normally $18 an adult and $5 per child over 4 (although because we booked as a group we got on a bit cheaper).  A highly recommended family activity!

Phone Dump Friday – Evandale, Tasmania

I haven’t uploaded many of my iphone photos to Flickr for a while, so using the new app (which I love, by the way) I have dumped a heap to my account and still have more to go….

Here are some reasons to turn left instead of right as you leave the Launceston Airport this summer.
