Product Photography – And a yummy giveaway

This week I had the opportunity to taste test the new Chia loaf from Bakers Delight, and to also practice some product photography.

I am no pro at product photography that is for sure but I was willing to give it a go, I like to push new aspects of photography and see what I can come up with given a chance.

Bakers Delight Chia Bread

The Chia loaf is a new range that Bakers Delight make, it is full of Chia seeds which are a source of Omega-3 ALA, dietary fibre and protein. Now I don’t mind eating bread with seeds in it apart from the fact they get stuck in my teeth, but my husband hates it, he says “We are not birds so why do we need to eat seeds?”

But this loaf is different, the Chia seeds are tiny, so they don’t get stuck in your teeth! The crust also has a nice crunch to it. I made the kids some sandwiches and asked what they thought of the bread, yummy and crunchy! My daughter then asked for two pieces of bread to eat after school, nothing on them and one was the crust, unheard of!

My husband even tried it and said it was good!

The only thing downside is the size of the bread is smaller than what I usually buy at the supermarket, but I think the benefit of the ingredients and taste far outweigh the processed white bread we eat.

Bakers Delight have given me three $5 vouchers to giveaway, so you can try this or another loaf from the Bakers Delight range. Along with the voucher there is also a Chia singlet and a packet of seeds for you to try with your own cooking.

First birthday coming up, why I will check out the Target Toy Sale

My little boys birthday is a mere month away and I just received the Target email with the latest catalogue for the Target Toy Sale in my inbox.

I must admit I  look forward to the toy sales and love looking at the catalogs as much as the kids do, and where I live we don’t get them delivered to the mail box (boo hoo).  So being able to view them online is great for me.

One thing I noticed is that there are over 300 exclusive toys (only at Target) like the Barbie Skate shoes (wish they made them in adult sizes, I’m sure I could get the house work done in double time.)

There are many ½ price offers on Australia’s biggest brands.  Fisher Price included which means I am in luck for little boy!

Seeing as the big kids broke poor little boys block trolley this morning I should be able to get a replacement, perhaps something more sturdy than the last, although not much would have survived big sister and her bike landing on it I don’t imagine.

I know my big boy is going to talk non stop about the Transformers when he sees them (he goes through fazes of obsession, the latest is Transformers)  and my daughter will definitely want a look as she hasn’t been birthday shopping with her Aunty yet – she strings birthdays out for weeks! (I was very good at doing the same, my family will agree.)

The only bad thing about the toy sales is the abundance of mum’s queuing up to lay by, and I know our local Target does not have trolleys which makes it even harder, but this year Target has introduced a new online Lay-by System.

Steps for online lay by

  1. Go to target.com.au
  2. Search the toys available.
  3. Register and create your list.
  4. Select your lay-by location (your nearest Target store).
  5. Submit your list (You’ll then receive an email confirmation including PDF files)
  6. PRINT the email confirmation and take to your nominated store to activate your lay-by (10% deposit required) on or before Wednesday 3 August 2011.

*After submitting your lay-by list, please wait until the following day before activating in store.

So this saves your arms and legs hours of waiting in a queue!  All you need to do is take in a list.

The Early Bird Lay-by System closes on 2nd August so grab the opportunity to skip the queues today!

I will be heading in store soon no doubt to have a closer look at birthday presents, not just for my little one but someone in my family also has  a first birthday coming up and I will be sure to go find a nice noisy toy for him (payback I tell you!)

Win! My first Giveaway – Disney’s Lemonade Mouth

Guess what?! It’s Giveaway time!

I received in the mail the other day a copy of Disney’s Lemonade Mouth to review and a copy for one lucky reader to win.

© Disney

Lemonade Mouth is about a group of  5 young teens Olivia,  (Bridgit Mendler), Mo (Naomi Scott), Charlie (Blake Michael), Stella, (Hayley Kiyoko), and Wen (Adam Hicks)who meet in detention, find they all have musical talent and form a band, but they are at the bottom of the school rank (literally, in the basement) as far as the Principal (Christopher McDonald) is concerned, as he does everything he can to extinguish their talent and voice within the school.

The kids all have various struggles and difficulties in their lives that I am sure young teens could be able to relate to, from step families, to overbearing parents, dealing with death in the family  that they need to overcome, and overcome they do but not without a struggle first!

I don’t want to give too much away but those kids can certainly sing, what voices and talent!  I’m sure the soundtrack would be a favourite.

Lemonade Mouth is a Disney Channel movie so having only free to air tv I hadn’t heard of it. I was not a huge fan of  High School Musical so I was a little skeptical but it was a well written movie, the characters were likeable and the message of friendship really stood out to me.

I wasn’t sure if my children aged 5 and 8 would find this movie interesting but they sat through the whole movie, and if my daughter doesn’t like something she won’t sit and watch!  My daughter also said “It’s Awesome” as the last song the band performed was on.

It  would suit an older age bracket perhaps 10-Teens as I think some of the story line went over my kids head, but in saying that they still enjoyed watching it and as a parent I would recommend it.  I really enjoyed the songs and the movie encouraged kids to go for their dreams and not be trodden down by others who think they are better but to push on and succeed.
