Hagley Farm Open Day

A couple of weekends ago Hagley Farm had an open day for visitors.  Anyone who has grown up in Tasmania has usually been to Hagley Farm for a school visit or school camp at one point or another.  I remember going in Grade 3 for a camp, and making candles and churning butter.

I thought it would be great to take the kids and also because I wanted a look again too.  This year marks 150 years Hagley Farm has been operating, and as we walked around we heard stories from older members of the community telling us their experiences as children at the school, it was certainly interesting.

Road Trip – Rocket Park Ulverstone

A couple of weeks back  we drove to Ulverstone to collect our new vehicle, at that time it was after dark and we spotted the Rocket park and thought we must come back and take the kids, to experience some of our own childhood memories of this great playground.  Fast forward to the weekend and we took another drive to Ulverstone.

As kids my husband and I both frequented the Rocket Park on many visits usually over Easter when we were camping nearby.  I have very fond memories of the place.

We get to the Rocket Park….the kids are impressed.

We walk over to the Rocket – us, not so impressed.  It is bolted up with a padlock 🙁  I really don’t see why, there is no way you could fall out of that thing.  The spaceship has also been turned into a bbq area, the stairs removed.

Childhood Ruined.

Was it really cheaper to install a whole new playground than it was to fix the issues with these two pieces of equipment?  Such a shame.

Anyway the kids still had fun on the slide, which I am glad is still in operation.

On the way back from our play at the park we stopped to eat some dinner at the Devonport Bluff.  We went up the hill near the lighthouse.  We have previously had some family photos up here, it is such a beautiful spot.
