Jade & Michael – Launceston Wedding Photographer

Last month I had the privilege of photographing another friend of mine, whom I have known a very long time.  The day began at Hotel on Charles, which I hadn’t visited yet, although had admired from the outside.  Michael and his groomsmen were preparing for the big day. Michael had chosen the suits himself, he did a great job putting it all together.  As it usually is with the boys,  preparation for the wedding day is usually a bit more relaxed.

Over at the Bride’s home, things weren’t quite the same…..

Poor Jade was sick and could barely talk, her family had stocked up on Soothers and water to help her through the big day.

Jade’s make up artist was Olivia Jones she did a fantastic job at making the bride, bridesmaids and mother of the bride glamorous.

The ceremony was lovely, and we soon headed out to Evandale for some bridal portraits, thankfully the day was not too cold, and the rain stayed away.

The reception was at the Happy Chef in Longford, it was wonderfully decorated, complete with lolly buffet, photo booth, and suitcase to write the bride and groom a message to read on their first anniversary.  All these things were put together by Jade and her mother, they did a fantastic job.

It was such a wonderful day, and I felt lucky to be able to photograph it.

Engagement Session – Hollybank Forest, Launceston

I have been wanting to blog this engagement session for weeks now, have finally found some time to sit down and blog!

I received an email enquiry from the lovely Bianca about and engagement/couple session and that she wanted to go to her favourite spot near Launceston, Hollybank Forest. It just so happens to be one of my favourite places to photograph too, see previous post here.

The day arrived and having had such a bad winter I was skeptical about what the weather would do, but thankfully it held out and we were able to capture some great images for Bianca and fiancé Rob.

It was a pleasure photographing these two lovely people, and I couldn’t stop saying how sweet they looked together (hope that wasn’t annoying).  Don’t you all agree?

Just had to pop this one in….the massive big oak tree, that I didn’t even know was in Hollybank and is apparently pretty popular for weddings..

Congratulations Bianca and Rob on your engagement and have fun planning your wedding.

My Weekend In Melbourne

Last weekend I made a whirlwind journey to Melbourne for two days.  I was up bright and early (it wasn’t bright outside) and boarded the propeller Qantas plane at 6am.  I was a little nervous, which was silly because the flight was fine and I got free food too.

In the two days that I was there I sure did some walking.  My hips ached for 3 days once I got home.

Here are some of the places I went.

I got off the plane and my Dad and Jo were waiting for me as I got off the bus.

We headed up to the Victoria Markets, but first breakfast was needed.

I only had a coffee as I had eaten on the plane, and it was delicious.

Then into the markets for a look.

We then popped into a nearby pet shop as Jo needed to collect some dog treats and we looked at the cute puppies, I then proceeded to be told off for taking a photo of the cute puppy.  In my defence I did not see the signs that were displayed as  I couldn’t take my eyes off thedog, and the girl was standing in front of the sign that would have been at my eye level.

What are they hiding anyway?!

Then into the mall.

These guys were braving it in the 36 degree heat!

We then headed to our apartment to get ready for my cousins wedding.

The next morning I was up early (the only day I could have slept in and couldn’t) so I set off on my own.

I headed toward Chapel street, as our room was not far from there.

I found my way after catching a tram the wrong direction and then heading back the other way to my favourite shop in Chapel Street. IT WAS CLOSED

Apparently I didn’t think about the fact that it was Sunday and everyone was sleeping in.

So instead I headed to find some coffee as I hadn’t had one yet.

I discovered Market Lane Coffee

And it was so yummy, and the sugar was unrefined from sugar cane, never seen it like that before.

I then headed into the Prahran Market for some breakfast. This was my view above.

From here I found my way to the next tram and headed back to the city.

Federation Square is a happening place. I saw camera clubs, car clubs, book stalls, and more in a matter of minutes.

I had a look through the National Gallery of Victoria I looked at the Flouresce exhibit and Fred Kruger (Not to be confused with Freddy Kruger)

Then I went over to the Screen Worlds exhibition, which I thought was fantastic, and FREE!!

It was about lunchtime so I went in search of a place called The Journal which I read about on Photobat‘s photography blog.

I found it and had myself another coffee and a muffin for lunch. It was a fantastic atmosphere and I enjoyed not having to share my food!

On I went to explore more of Melbourne

One of the best things about Melbourne are the buskers. Theses guys were fantastic.

By the time I headed to the airport, I was wrecked. Then there was a thunderstorm with fork lightning and the airport got closed for a while. Flight delayed and I didn’t arrive home till 1am, but I had a fantastic time, you certainly know you are alive when you visit Melbourne!
